QuickTime is optional during the installer of Sharepod and is needed for the media previews of video and audio. This error can happen if the Sharepod installer can't download QuickTime due to Internet connectivity issues or a restricted network .
To resolve this error and be able to complete the Sharepod installer, please try downloading QuickTime directly from the link below:

Once QuickTime is installed, try running the Sharepod installer again

“The file cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file ‘QuickTime.cab’. This could indicate a network error, an errreading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.”
I have not had a network error and my program was downloaded from your site, so no CD-ROM. Going online for help and finding suggestions that were mostly saying that I need to log in as Administrator. Don’t know how to do that.
I attempted to send an error report only to get this:
“An exception occurred in a component of Sharepod. We have created an error report that you can send us. Only the Macroplant development team can access this information”
Then:
“Unable to create folder for crash log. You may need to restart this application with administrative “priviledges” to get stuff to work properly.”
I still don’t know how to obtain “administrative privileges”
I am reluctant to download an updated i-tunes because I am trying to back-up my i-pod classic (160 GB) which the newer versions of i-tunes fail to recognize.
